Home Contractor Review Removal: Angi, Houzz, Thumbtack & Google

Contractors and tradespeople face retaliatory reviews from price shoppers and competitors. Here's how to fight back legitimately.

By Review Remover Editorial Team

Home service professionals — roofers, plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians — operate in a review ecosystem where a single bad review can freeze lead flow for weeks.

Angi (formerly Angie's List) has strict policies against reviews from non-customers and competitors. Their moderation team is responsive when evidence is provided.

Houzz reviews are focused on design and remodeling. Removable categories include reviews for contractors the user never hired, photos stolen from other projects, and clearly false project descriptions.

Thumbtack reviews can only be left by users who actually hired through the platform. Reviews from external sources are removable. Thumbtack also removes reviews containing profanity and threats.

For Google: document before-and-after photos, signed contracts, and completion certificates. If a reviewer never hired you, a contract absence is powerful evidence for removal.
