Yelp Review Removal: Why It's Hard and How to Actually Succeed

Yelp removes far fewer reviews than Google — but it's not impossible. Here's what actually works.

By Review Remover Editorial Team

Yelp has a justified reputation for being the hardest major platform to get a review removed from. Their public stance is that they protect consumer voice, and their Recommendation Software automatically filters many reviews that look suspicious — but it does NOT remove them.

Removal requires a clear Content Guidelines violation. The most successful categories are: first-person content from non-customers, conflicts of interest, threats, lewdness, hate speech, and reviews focused on someone other than the business.

The 'Not Recommended' filter is your friend. About 25% of all Yelp reviews land in this filter — invisible to most visitors. If you can't remove a review, demonstrating that it should be filtered (based on reviewer behavior signals) is the next best outcome.
