Section 230 and Why Platforms Don't Have to Remove Anything

Understanding Section 230 changes how you approach platform removal — for the better.

By Review Remover Editorial Team

Section 230 of the CDA shields platforms from liability for user content AND from liability for moderation decisions.

This means platforms remove content because their policies allow it — not because the law requires it. Policy-mapped requests work; legal threats to the platform usually don't.

However, the original reviewer is not protected by Section 230. Direct legal action against an identifiable defamatory reviewer is fully viable.
